Mardi & Mike – July 23, 2011

This Wedding will be memorable for two reasons! The first I will jokingly say is because Mike actually does exist! In many Pre-Wedding meetings Mike was not able to join Mardi, Mimi, Bob and I….so it became a running joke that Mike was just a phantom,  & luckily that was proven false this weekend!

The next thing I’ll always remember when thinking about this fun Wedding, was that it was held at the very peak of the great Heat Wave of 2011! Temperatures inside the classic 1800’s clapboard church during the Rehearsal & Wedding Ceremony were topping out over 105°….so we were very thankful for the simple, understated beauty that is the outside of this old Church, where we did our Formal Shots in the cooling breeze, enhanced with the beautiful, classic white, removable hard top 1955 Thunderbird owned by family friends Rick & Deanna Curren. Thanks so much for the Great Prop! Also thanks to Bob for polishing up and bringing out his personal beauty, a bright red, 1963 Studebaker Grand Turismo GT Hawk! I know it added so much to Mardi & Mike’s day. Thanks Bob!

August’s Rolling Art – August 20, 2011

This collection is from numerous visits to the Horseheads Holding Point Railroad Yards in late July & August. NEAT STUFF!

As the trains roll right past my Studio’s back lot and into the Holding Point Yards, I go out to the tracks and watch for any of this stuff coming in….then the next day I go find the cars parked in the yards and shoot them. Some absolutely incredible stuff! I’d love to hire some of these guys to do one side wall of my Studio Building..but I’m sure they are most likely painted in NYC or Philly or Cleveland….some major Metro Area. I have no idea what any of it’s supposed to mean, but it really is some pretty cool shit!

Katelynn & Billy’s Engagement Shoot – August 16, 2011

A fun shoot this afternoon with a really great young couple! A year has gone by already since Katelynn & Billy booked me for their August 2012 Belhurst Wedding, so we’ve had the chance to get to know each other a bit through the year. Actually, I was friends with Billy’s Dad Chuck since we were kids Jr. Bowling on Saturday Mornings @ Paramount Lanes, and all the way through High School. This was a Bittersweet Afternoon, as right after our shoot. Billy was packed up & heading out to his job as Assistant Lacrosse Coach at SUNY Potsdam as their school year starts already in a few weeks. We had a nice time catching up, and bringing back some memories of their “Glory Days” when we walked over to the Horseheads High Athletic Complex, as both Kate & Billy were very competitive athletes throughout High School & College, and they still play today!
And after the shoot, I couldn’t help but share with Billy that he became another addition to my long list of Famous Celebrity Look-A-Likes…… Now C’mon…. doesn’t he have a little Bruce Willis going there?

Valerie & Billy – July 16, 2011

Well, what can I say about THIS Wedding? I’ve known Billy’s Dad Bill from October 2000 & my first day as First Arena / Elmira Jackals Team Photographer. I’ve known his Sister Annie for at least 10 years, at numerous places of employment! I also shot his Cousin Maria’s Wedding a few years ago.  So we all felt kinda like family! Then, in planning the Wedding….Billy & Val & I worked together over a couple of weeks to find a date and locations that would work with my already busy & booked summer schedule. They changed their plans 3 or 4 times until everything finally clicked for us all!  And I’m SO GLAD THAT THEY DID!

Then, in June we had a tremendous Engagement shoot session up at Val’s Family’s Elmira,  East Hill Family Farm & Barn. You can check my blog posting in early June for some of those images.

Finally, CHEERS to the warm hospitality provided by Innkeeper, Minister and Friend, Jim Pelligrini of The Fox & The Grapes Bed & Breakfast, in Lodi, NY, then off to the always Classy, Fun and Elegant Wedding Ceremony & Reception Venue location of The Wagner’s Vineyards Ginny Lee Cafe…under the watchful eye of Ginny Lee herself, and my good buddy…the Master of The Kitchen…Chef Mitch! Thanks for all that you both, as well as your great staffs, did to make this Storybook Wedding so much fun for all of these very, very special people!

Christina & Adam – July 15, 2011

My first 2011 visit to the wonderful Cobblestone Restaurant & Beautiful Belhurst Castle Resort & Spa, located in Geneva, NY on the shores of majestic Seneca Lake. Christina & Adam and their families and friends were so warm & fun to work with, and I think that shows in these images. Love and genuine affection were the order of the day….not to mention a lot of just plain craziness which always is a plus to the festivities , and to my images.  I always tell my couples that I can’t do this alone…creating great pictures that is. I need YOUR enthusiasm, and YOUR GROUPS willingness & cooperation throughout the day to be able to capture the images that you are dreaming of & hoping for. That was NO problem with this fun bunch! Thanks for letting me be a part of your special day!

“Rolling Canvas” – August 09, 2011

Tuesday afternoon a 45 car train rolled through Horseheads and as it passed I spotted this absolute beauty. Shot it later that evening, and I’ve gotta say…this one is Really Beautiful! Some of my favorite colors all mixed together to create this really neat flow! Amazing!

Jessica & Daryn – July 9, 2011

A very fun, relaxed and casual Wedding at the beautiful Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyards located on the west side of majestic Seneca Lake in Dundee, NY. Everyone was so happy to be there, and so great to work with and for me to be a part of their gang!

This was very special, as they do not do many Weddings at the Vineyard, but Jess & Daryn were good friends with the Wine Master who they knew from their shared time together as students at Cornell University.

And one special moment for me to file away in my memory…. Absolutely the walk away winner in, THE single most hysterical thing that “I Ever Heard a Bride Say While She Was Getting Dressed Award”, goes to Jessica this morning after a rough phone call, she bluntly stated…”Listen to me……I sound like a Sailor in a Wedding Dress!”

“Thanks for letting me play a part in your Special Day!” 🙂

Dusk, in the Finger Lakes – July 29, 2011

On my way back from Friday Night’s Rehearsal Dinner up at Wagners Vineyards Ginny Lee Cafe’ in Lodi, NY, and as a spectacular Finger Lakes Sunset enveloped the Evening Sky I just had to stop and shoot the amazing view next to this old, abandoned, decrepit farmhouse with the rusted metal roof  that I have admired every single time I pass by! What A Sunset!

As I drove through into the bustling weekend activity in Downtown Watkins Glen, full of summer tourists I stopped across the street from the beautiful and recently renovated Glen Theater, and captured it’s resurrected night-time beauty in all of it’s glory!

What Great shots!….even when I thought I was finished shooting for the night! I guess you never know what awaits!
