Mid-Winter @ The Holding Point * The Beginning of the End of Warehouse “H”

It’s been a while since I’ve been over here for a visit, but today I took a drive through the complex, shot a few neat Graffiti Cars, and also got a few shots of the demolition that is currently taking place on the Southwest end of the site. Last week they began demolishing one of the old WWII vintage warehouses to make way for new warehouse buildings that will soon be going up on the same footprint. These old buildings were built over 70 years ago….with sectional firewalls made up of bricks from our local Horseheads Brickyard …..but today these buildings leaked, couldn’t be heated efficiently, had roofs with ceiling height that is too low, & just couldn’t realistically be brought up to present day code, so demolition was their eventual & final fate. The new warehouses will be built to the exact specs needed to house the drilling sand, pipe, and other gas drilling supplies that are currently being warehoused & stored on that site.  Also, at the Northwest end of the site, the rail lines are all being rebuilt from end to end to hold the weight of the constant, non-stop traffic of sand and pipe cars. By the time this work is completed, this complex is going to be a top rate facility! Nice change from 70 + years of time & neglect!

My Saturday Afternoon With Tiffany – “The Eyes Have It!” 10/22/11

This late October Shoot was such a blast for both of us! For me, I got to finally shoot with Tiffany whom I know through volunteering my Photography talent and services with the American Cancer Society, which is where Tiffany works. We have both worked together at the ACS Relay For Life events in Horseheads the past few years, and from the first time that I saw them, I always thought that Tiff had the most Incredible Eyes. That Steel Silver/Blue color is so incredible to look at, and was really amazing as captured in these fun shots taken around Horseheads on this Beautiful Fall Saturday Afternoon in October. Thanks Tiff for being such an incredible model, and I look forward to shooting together again soon!

Wedding Morning Paintball! 10/09/11

To Start off yesterday’s great Fall Sunday Wedding Day of Amber & Andy – 10/09/11, I joined our Groom & about a dozen of his fellow warriors in Ashland,  for my first Paintball Experience! These Guys are Hard Core! Camouflage Underwear….Really? What a great morning to be in the woods too! It was about 70 degrees, the blanket of fallen leaves already on the ground was dry, the brilliant sunshine above  was just streaming through the tall, colorful trees, while the leaves were falling all over the place. At the end of our epic battle I gathered all the warriors together across this woodland stream, while I got down into the creek bed rocks while keeping my D3S just above the running waters of that Babbling Brook. I shot this wide angle shot of the boys, with the sunshine at their backs, just as they started shooting their remaining paintballs into the air. They began bursting open once they hit the branches above & soon it was raining yellow paint on us all!
This shot reminds me of a jungle shot you saw in Apocalypse Now, Hamburger Hill or Platoon! What a cool way to start this great day!
