Farm + Fall = Fun!

Had a great time this Beautiful September Thursday afternoon on a hill overlooking Elmira, shooting our Engagement Session with Manda & Jason. This old Farm was so cool to shoot at, not to mention the fact that it holds special ties & meaning to the couple’s family which has been farming this very land since the early 1800’s!  I loved all the different settings & unique weathered and textured components that were part of today’s settings, not to mention just getting to know this fun couple a bit more, and getting them all warmed up for next June’s big Wedding Weekend! Great job you two! Just wait till June! 🙂

My Aunt Mary….in Memorium

Life is funny….

Sometimes things are just happening all around us for a reason, and we never even know it until its too late. Just this weekend, which was also my 55th birthday on 9/15, I was honored to shoot my Cousin Sue’s Son, Kyle’s, Wedding to Katie. We all had a great time and a lot of fun over the weekend. I hadn’t seen my Aunt Mary (Sue’s Mom) for quite some time, but there she was,  at Friday’s Rehearsal, the Dinner afterward, and of course all day at the Wedding & Reception. We even bugged her up at her home in Pine City on Saturday morning, when Kyle and his guys all got together for the fun, gun shooting images that I just posted here a couple days earlier in the very prior Blog Post. I even picked on her then, like I always do,  about…. what I call, her “Mary on the Half Shell” which is her Statue of the Virgin Mary, resting inside of a Blue Painted Cast Iron Bathtub, buried on it’s end, in the ground out in her side yard! My Cousin Bob & his wife Anna flew in from Miami, Florida & Mary got to see and catch up with everyone. Most importantly though, she got to be a special part of Kyle & Katie’s Happy Wedding Day, something she very much looked forward to! She had such a fun weekend!
Then, only four days later……. she’s gone. But for her older Sister Ann, who is still with us, Mary is now with the rest of her family…..her Husband (my Uncle) Bob, Sisters…. my Mom Helen, Sister Catherine, and their four Brothers, Nick, Chuck, Frank & John, as well as their Mom & Dad, Christine & Paul Zubriski.
We’ll always love & remember you. Rest In Peace Aunt Mary.

Chicken Dance On Red Neck Ridge!

After surviving the ominous thunderstorms that I had previously posted a shot from the Rehearsal Dinner the night before, Kyle and his Buddies treated me with some Gun Shootin’ & A Chicken Handlin’ on this Beautiful Fall Saturday Morning…..MY BIRTHDAY present! I just loved the Deliverance looking old Tin Shed & Rusted Windmill, and the neat old Pond that my Uncle Bob,  rest his soul, built up on the hill at his & my Aunt Mary’s Pine City, NY home, with lots of childhood memories all around! Yet finally before we were through, Kyle just had to show me one of his Egg Layin’ Girls! I’ve seen a a lot of Chicken Dances at Weddings….but this one takes the Cake….or shall I say Egg?
I hope these shots might spur some imagination to my future Brides and Grooms , and act as inspiration for some neat, fun and unique things we might cook up together with either some neat props, locations, vehicles or hobbies…… on YOUR Wedding Day!!!!!

Fright Night Friday!

While at tonight’s Rehearsal Dinner (for my Cousin Sue’s Son Kyle & his Fiance’ Katie.) This combination Cold Front/Thunder Storm slowly moved through the area…..and for a few minutes I really was expecting to see either a Tornado Funnel, or one of those Gigantic Alien Space Ships from Independence Day,  drop out of this Monster in the September Sky! Luckily, just a lot of Rain & Early Darkness….at least for Horseheads, NY this Fall, Friday Evening!

Jimi Hendrix – Wedding Crasher!

As Elmira locals know, we are blessed in our community with the re-incarnation of ’60’s Rock Legend Jimi Hendrix, who is seen frequently roaming the streets of the Queen City. So after today’s September 1, 2012 Wedding of Grace & David @ North Presbyterian, we took a walk over to the Campus of Elmira College to have some fun. As I got my gang set up on the steps of Hamilton Hall and with my back to the street I heard Gracie say…”There’s Jimi Hendrix!” I looked, and sure as hell there he was walking down College Ave.! I hollered over to him & asked if he had a minute & might want to join us in some Wedding Pictures….& he said “Everybody Want’s Me in Pictures!” and well….. Here We Are! Keep on Rockin’ Jimi!
