On the Outside Looking In….

A few weeks ago I helped out fellow Photographer Danielle Gerritsen, and Second Shot along with her while she was 8 1/2 months pregnant with her first child……..just in case! Shooing Second is always kinda neat, we’ve done it before together so we pretty much know where to be to get something different from each other, and this time I really nailed the Cake Cutting from outside on the porch! You never get the chance to do this unique stuff when you’re out there shooting primary, so it was fun coming up with some new ideas along the way, and seeing what happens! Also, it doesn’t hurt to get really lucky (in the second shot) and catch someone else’s flash at exactly the same time my shutter was open! How’s THAT for timing!?
PS: I shot Danni’s Wedding here at the same exact location, The Fontainebleau Inn, about 10 years earlier, so it was kinda like “DeJa-Vu all over again” as Yogi Berra would say!

“Beat It!”

A while back I bought a case of these cheap, white cloth gloves on Ebay, and I always keep a few pair of them in one of the many cases that I always have with me at Wedding Receptions. During the course of the day and especially into the reception & on the dance floor, I always try to scope out “THAT ONE” particular Guest who through his or her actions just catches my eye, and who I just know are going to be photographically “interesting” throughout the night. Then I wait for the first playing of the Michael Jackson ‘s  “Beat It” or “Billie Jean” are always KILLER! So it’s then that I pop out onto the dance floor and pull out one of those gloves and wave it in front of my victim, and they ALWAYS go nuts! They can’t get that glove on fast enough, and well…the results speak for themselves!  The thing that always amazes me, and that’s how fast they always master that “crotch grab” move, lol ! Beat It!

“Big Dipper Delight”

Today’s Wedding of Sarah & Jarrett that took place at Seneca Springs Resort was my first visit to that great venue, and what a time we all had. As the night wore on, I set up my gear to get a shot across the pond and to catch some of the beautiful starlight in the skies tonight. The shots came out looking great, and then suddenly I realized that a little bit of luck never hurts either! I never even noticed while setting up the shot, that the Big Dipper was directly front & center in the image I was creating. Straight out of the camera….with no additional retouching…Now how cool is that?

Aint “Tatt” Something?

The young man who belongs to this arm was a guest at a recent Wedding that I shot. I noticed his numerous Tattoos and while shooting few of them, he pointed out something remarkable. Look at this arm one way and it says LIFE, flip the arm around, and it says DEATH.  Who thinks this stuff up?

Gentleman Ring Farmer

I’m working on Wendy & Justin’s August 10th Wedding tonight and came upon these great shots of our little Ring Bearer Wyatt Cooper. Wyatt and I were shooting pictures of Wendy and her ladies with this great old tractor out in Van Etten prior to the Wedding Ceremony at “Charlies Swamp” in Alpine, NY. Great Job Wyatt Buddy, Thanks for your help!~

Superman, Amish Crowd Surfers & Pyramid Boys, what’s next?

So tonight I’m finishing up Marissa & Alex’s Wedding Reception at The Harbor Hotel last month, and I almost forgot about all of this madness that happened as their party was drawing to a close. Sometimes you think you’ve just about seen it all…..and then, Guess Again!

“Blue Eyes….Blue Skies”

As usual, if it’s ANY night of the week…..I’m working on editing a recent Wedding. Tonight I’m working on Marissa & Alex’s Wedding and just LOVE the way the blue color of the door behind her really makes her blue eyes just pop with that much more color.

My Shawshank Redemption….

Every time this movie comes on, no matter what else is going on I just have to watch it! This,  The Blues Brothers & Animal House are my favorite three of all time, & I know almost all the lines in each from memory!

Anyway, I was Goggling stuff about Shawshank, and found that the 1994 prison drama The Shawshank Redemption is a Hollywood rarity, in that it wasn’t shot in Hollywood. The filmmakers didn’t use New York or Toronto either. Instead, Shawshank was filmed almost entirely on location, in and around the Rust Belt city of Mansfield, Ohio, about halfway between Columbus and Cleveland.

The Reformatory has never been more popular. It turns out the Ohio State Reformatory has become somehow hip. And the tours are just the beginning. You name it, people want to do it here: conventions, trade shows, ghost hunts, concerts, proms. People even want to get married here.

“There are 14 weddings here scheduled for this year(2011),” Klarman says. “There are already four or five scheduled for 2012. And there’s one wedding scheduled for 2013 already. So word has gotten out. It had spread. It’s just amazing.”

So here’s my offer to you….

BOOK YOUR WEDDING THERE & Select me to shoot it,  and my usually priced  $2000 Recovery Wedding Photography Package is ON ME! FREE!

The Iggy’s – July 6, 2013

You really know that time is moving along on you when you begin shooting the Weddings of one of your Best Friends Daughters. Today was Michelle & Iggy’s chance for their Happy Wedding Day, and the second time this 2013 Wedding Season that I had the pleasure to be a part of one my buddy Artie’s Daughter’s Weddings, as we already had a blast with Tricia and Chris’s Rochester Wedding way back in April! I was honored to be a part of both Happy Occasions, and I hope that my work will bring smiles to your faces, and many Happy Memories as the years pass by! God Bless you all!

And MY GOD, I still think that you guys looked like the Beverly Hillbillies Clampett’s when you were all on that Damn Old Fire Truck!
