A Wet Watkins – NASCAR WGI 2012 Day#1

Got up early and was at the track at 7:45 A.M., and so was the crappy weather. With lots of racing cancelled because of the rain, this Friday was spent mostly at driver Press Conferences & in and around the Garage & Media Center.

Drivers in order: Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr., Tony Stewart & Clint Bowyer.

Then it’s upstairs to the WGI Studios of @WRCE-AM1490 & we find my buddy Chris P. Bacon doing his On-Air Thing, while interviewing a young NASCAR fan from Ohio who’s here with his Dad for the Glen Races for the 9th time.  Finally as I was leaving the Media Center for the day, I ran into former Three Time Heavyweight Boxing World Champion Michael Moorer, who was being interviewed by Andy & the Crew from WENY TV 36. Definitely a fun day to start this 2012 NASCAR Weekend……Stay tuned tomorrow for lots of exciting Saturday Racing Pictures from WGI Day #2.

Gentlemen (and Danica), Start Your Engines!!!

My final remaining 2012 Summer Saturday without a Weekend Wedding Shoot…
*PLUS*
A Great Front Office Connection with I.S.C. (International Speedway Corporation) in Florida…..

PRICELESS!!!!!

Just got back from the W.G.I Track and picking up my full Race, Hot Pit, Hot Garage Photo Credentials!
It’s Gonna be a Fun Freelancing Weekend!

Seneca Sunset Stunner!!!!

From our June 29, 2012 Wedding Reception at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel, Che & Jason and I were treated to what I think was one of the finest Sunsets that I’ve ever seen and/or had the opportunity to capture, while we were out on the Harbor Pier!!! Sometimes it all just CLICKS! This one was just…SPECTACULAR!
These shots really illustrate what can be captured by a Photographer who  really knows what they are doing, and “even” knows how to shoot & adjust both the camera & flash MANUALLY, because unfortunately too many of today’s self proclaimed “Wedding Photographers” couldn’t shoot in manual  if their lives depended on it. Just Sayin’! Enjoy!

Ann & David’s Triathalon Wedding Day!

As I approach 2012 Wedding # 15 & my shooting season half way point, I wanted to take a moment to blog post one of my favorites so far. Ann & David’s Wedding was just so unique and personal that I wanted to share it with all of you today. For those of you who know me….. you’ll quickly see why it left such an impression on me. I was UP AT 5:00 A.M. and in a row boat on Keuka Lake at  7:00 A.M. while I was covering their Cross-Keuka & Back swimming Waker-Upper! All before 10:00 A.M.!! That was soon followed by a 5K Run along East Lake Drive . Add to that a beautifully restored classic 1942 Chris-Craft, a fantastic walk through Hammondsport NY, an intimate Lakeside Wedding Ceremony at a friend’s Wonderful and Warm Lake Home. Add lots of Fun, Family & Friends, as well as one of the finest Sunset Shoot’s I’ve ever had the chance to capture, and finish the weekend off with a great Dockside Fireworks Show that was the Brides surprise Wedding gift to her Groom.
I hope you enjoy viewing these images as much as I did while shooting them!

NOTE FROM ANN AFTER HER FIRST VIEWS OF HER WEDDING IMAGES:
“Rick, sorry I’ve not offered more feedback yet. I’ve been traveling for work so it’s been hard to give them the attention they deserve. But…THEY ARE SPECTACULAR!! I can’t believe how many amazing pictures you were able to get.  I am so impressed with the quality of the images you captured. So many captures of anticipation, gratitude, joy, love, fun, etc.  Thank you, Rick. You gave us all we expected and more. “
More later,
Ann

More Celebrity Look-A-Likes

More in what will be a continuing series of posts of new Celebrity Look-a-Likes that I run into during the course of my Wedding shoots! I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I spot people at Weddings, and immediately they remind me of an athlete, actor, actress, singer or politician. Once I mention it to them, others who hear the conversation always seem to chime in & agree, and usually my “Celebrity” victim has heard it all before.

Up Today… Alaska’s Former Quitter/Ex-Governor Sarah Palin, Ted Turner, Nicholas Cage, Jane Lynch, and The Piano Man himself, Billy Joel!

Spending The Fourth With A Friend

I spent this sweltering hot Fourth of July afternoon with my old friend today…..dusted off the cob webs, pushed the original mileage up over 35,000 and did some shooting over at the old Horseheads Holding Point Industrial Complex. She still looks & runs great 36+ years after I bought her!
1976 Camaro – 35,000 miles 350 c.i., 4 Barrel, 4 Speed with added Fiberglass Fender Flares, Front Air Dam. Custom Paint, Stripes & Airbrush work by Horseheads’ very own, talented Artist Jimi Ademovic.
“BLUE MOVES”
is the name I gave her“Blue Moves” is the eleventh studio album by British singer/songwriter Elton John, released in 1976.

2012 ACS Relay For Life

Tonight, for the Fourth Year in a  row I donated my Shooting Skills to help out my friends at the American Cancer Society with their Horseheads Relay For Life Event, held earlier tonight at the Holding Point Recreation Complex. Here is a small sampling of some of the Fun, Smiles, Love, and Special Moments I captured at tonight’s Rain Shortened event. Pouring rain cancelled the event at 9:30, but I’ve been advised that it will continue & conclude events that were missed tonight especially the Luminaria Service on a yet to be determined Sunday Afternoon or Evening this summer.
